RETURN TO NEW YORK, 1995, Part Three

Paul Bowles travelled to New York in September 1995 to attend the EOS Orchestra's Paul Bowles Music Festival, organized by composer and conductor Jonathan Sheffer. Bowles was the guest of honor at party at Phillip Ramey's penthouse, and he was greeted by an old friend, Ned Rorem. A young Rorem was on vacation with his father in Taxco, Mexico in 1940 when he first met Jane and Paul Bowles. During the mid-1950s, Ned Rorem lived in Fez and Marrakech, Morocco, and also visited Paul and Jane Bowles in Tangier.
