PAUL BOWLES:  GALLERIES OF PHOTOGRAPHS

On his rare and final visit to New York City in September 1995, Paul Bowles was able to see some of his closest friends including Claude Nathalie Thomas from Paris, his preferred French translator, the Guatemalan writer Rodrigo Rey Rosa, his literary protégé and literary heir, the novelist and screenplay writer Gavin Lambert from Hollywood, California, who had lived in Tangier for 15 years, and Joseph A. McPhillips III, the executor of his estate. Others present were the composer and writer Ned Rorem, the American composer John Corigliano, pianist Gustavo Romero, Ira Cohen's son Raphael Aladdin Cohen, and Allen Hibbard.
