RETURN TO NEW YORK, 1995, Part Three
Paul Bowles travelled to New York in September 1995 to attend the EOS Orchestra's festival, organized by Jonathan Sheffer in his honor. Bowles attended a party at Phillip Ramey's penthouse, where he was greeted by an old friend, Ned Rorem. When Rorem was sixteen years old in 1940, he first met Jane and Paul Bowles in Taxco Mexico, while on vacation with his father. During the mid-1950s, Ned Rorem had lived in Fez and Marrakech, Morocco, and also visited Paul and Jane Bowles in Tangier. |
